Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Shreveport
The Day of the Dead Half Marathon: Parks Edition takes place at Walker Place Park in Bossier, Louisiana on 10/04/2026. The event offers multiple race options that run through parkland and mixed surfaces, with aid stations positioned along the course to provide water.
Race distances and options include:
- Kids Dash - ~20 yards, for runners 10 and under, not timed, shirt and medal
- 1 Mile - approximately 1 mile, not chip timed, includes shirt and medal
- 5K - 3.11 miles, chip timed, overall trophies and age group awards
- Quarter Marathon - 6.55 miles, chip timed, Bigfoot trophies and age group awards
- Half Marathon - 13.1 miles, chip timed, overall trophies and age group awards
- Volunteer then Run - volunteer pre-race, then run; chip timed bib and shirt
- Virtual Run - 13.1 miles, virtual option
A costume contest takes place before the race with judging for creativity and authenticity and a prize package for the winner. A post-race rally at the finish area features live music, a DJ, awards announcements, and food and drinks described as Mexican treats and refreshments.
Logistics noted include a shirt availability cutoff ten days before the event, packet pickup offered starting 1.5 hours before the event, and mixed course surfaces such as pavement, crushed granite, and some dirt paths.
