El Diablo Hundo
El Diablo Hundo is a trail ultramarathon held at Lake Bistineau State Park in Doyline, LA. The course is a 10-mile loop that combines the Blue Wing, Koasati, and Whoa Mule trails. There are two aid stations: a main staffed station at the Start/Finish offering hot food and trail snacks, and a second unmanned station near mile 5 supplying water, snacks, ice, and electrolytes.
The trail terrain reflects typical Louisiana State Park conditions: largely flat with minimal elevation, natural trail surfaces, muddy sections, and exposed tree roots. The event lists multiple distance options:
- 100 Miler
- 100K
- 50 Miler
- 25K
Lake Bistineau State Park sits on the western shore of the lake and includes upland mixed hardwood forest, cypress and tupelo stands, two boat launches, hiking and biking trails, playgrounds, camping, and cabins. The park supports freshwater fishing for species such as black crappie, largemouth bass, yellow bass, catfish, bluegill, and red-ear sunfish.
Lodging at the park includes 17 premium campsites (water and electrical hookups) and 44 improved campsites with hookups. Event swag differs by distance: 100M/100K receive a pullover hoodie, running cap, and cooling towel; 50M/50K receive a pullover hoodie and headband. Finish awards include finisher buckles for 100K and 100M, medals for 25K and 50M, and top-three awards for specified categories. Cutoffs are listed as 40 hours for the 100K and 100M, and 15 hours for the 25K and 50M. Race day food at the Start/Finish includes hot items, sandwiches, snacks, drinks, ice, and vegan options. A discount is available for military, donors, or first responders with proof submitted within 24 hours. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
