El Diablo Hundo
El Diablo Hundo is a trail running event held at Lake Bistineau State Park in Doyline, Louisiana. The race utilizes a 10-mile loop format that incorporates the Blue Wing, Koasati, and Whoa Mule trails. Participants traverse classic Louisiana State Park terrain, which features flat paths with minimal elevation changes, though the natural surfaces include tree roots and muddy sections.
The event offers several distances to accommodate different goals:
- 100 Miler
- 100K
- 50 Miler
- 25K
The course includes two primary support points. The main aid station at the start/finish area provides hot food, including bacon, quesadillas, grilled cheese, and vegan options, alongside standard trail snacks and beverages. An unmanned station at the 5-mile mark provides water, ice, electrolytes, and snacks.
Finishers of the 100 Miler and 100K receive a buckle, while the top three male and female finishers in these categories are awarded custom buckle holders. Participants in the 25K and 50 Miler receive a medal, with plaques designated for the top three male and female finishers. Swag items vary by distance and include items such as hoodies, running caps, and headbands. The park offers various lodging options including premium and improved campsites with water and electrical hookups. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
