Beer Mile North American Classic : Urban Chestnut Brewing Company
The Beer Mile North American Classic is a beer mile event held on Manchester Avenue in The Grove, Saint Louis, at Urban Chestnut Brewing Company. The course is a spectator-friendly 400 m out-and-back loop that centers on a chug zone on Newstead Avenue; runners complete four laps and consume one beer before each lap.
The event includes open individual heats, two-person relay heats, and an Elite heat featuring 40 to 50 competitors from across North America with prize money on offer. Relay teams split the race so the first teammate drinks the first two beers and runs the first two laps, and the second teammate drinks the final two beers and runs the final two laps. Individual heats can have up to 50 runners on course at a time; relay heats allow 50 teams per heat (100 total athletes).
Registration for entry includes four 12 oz cans of Urban Chestnut Zwickel (5.1% ABV), a koozie, a hat or t-shirt option or a $5 opt out, event merchandise available for sale, nonalcoholic alternatives, official timing by Big River Race Management, and race photos. Vendor Central will operate in the brewery parking lot with food options and a terrace provides elevated spectating. Live music and an afterparty occur later in the evening.
Event rules require four beers and four laps, beers of at least 12 oz and 5.0% ABV, cans not opened before the chug zone, a penalty lap if a runner vomits, and no shotgunning. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
