Beccles Triathlon
The Beccles Triathlon is a sprint distance multisport event located in the Waveney Valley. The competition is based at the Beccles Lido in Suffolk and follows a course that utilizes the local outdoor pool, rural roads, and river towpaths. The event has a total capacity of 200 participants and offers both individual and relay team categories.
The course consists of three distinct segments:
- 420m swim in a heated outdoor pool
- 20.3km cycle through local villages
- 6.7km run along the river towpath
The swim takes place at the Beccles Lido, where participants complete 14 lengths. The cycling leg passes through the villages of Gillingham, Geldeston, and Ditchingham. This bike route is designed to include only left turns for safety and is monitored by marshals. The final run segment leads athletes via Beccles Quay and follows the Waveney River towpath before returning to the market town of Beccles.
Awards are presented at the conclusion of the event. Trophies are designated for the top three male and female finishers, as well as the first-place relay team. Age group trophies are also awarded to winners in categories ranging from Under 20 to Super Veteran (55 plus). Results are published according to British Triathlon Federation five-year age groupings. Relay teams may consist of two or three members. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
