Archipelago Swimrun : Scilly Swimrun long course
The Archipelago Swimrun is the long-course event in the Scilly Swimrun series on the Isles of Scilly. The course is around 31 km of island hopping that includes technical trail sections and multiple open-water swims. The route features three major swims totalling about 5 km, island circumnavigations, and runs through coastal terrain and woodland.
This year the course starts and finishes on the island of St Martin’s. Participants will pass viewpoints on uninhabited islands, run through the woods of St Mary’s, and visit several other islands including a stop on Tresco where participants may meet runners from the Northern Traverse event. A boat is chartered to transfer participants staying on St Mary’s to the start islands. A GPX route is provided for navigation.
Entry is offered for solo competitors and pairs. Entry fees vary by date: solo fees start at £220 for early bird and rise to £280; pair fees start at £400 and rise to £520. Organisers are developing a spectator package.
Safety measures include a medical team on land and sea and a water safety team in powerboats covering the swims. Mandatory kit includes a wetsuit (not a trisuit), a whistle, a foldable cup or soft flask, and a towfloat for solo racers; teams must be tethered or both carry a towfloat. Optional kit items include pull buoys, calf floats, paddles, and soft flasks.
Typical water temperatures are around 14–16°C in July and 15–16°C in August. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
