Tide Race - Scilly 2026
- 10 km
- 2 km (Kids & Family)
The Tide Race is a running event on 14 August 2026 that links the islands of Tresco and Bryher via a temporarily exposed sandbar. The main route for the 10 km race starts on Tresco, crosses the sandbar to Bryher, follows a full circumnavigation of Bryher, and then returns across the sandbar to Tresco.
Runners must pass a strict two hour time limit for the full course. Any competitor who completes the Bryher loop with less than 15 minutes remaining will not be permitted to start the return crossing because of the incoming tide.
The sandbar crossing involves running through water. Water depth is expected to be no deeper than thigh level for most runners, though in some conditions it may reach below waist height. Participants should expect wet feet and must wear footwear for the water crossing.
All registered runners receive an official technical event vest that must be worn during the race. Children in the 2 km family race will be issued a Scilly60 swimrun vest to borrow; there is an option to buy a technical vest separately. The family race covers the shorter crossing between Tresco and Bryher.
Young people aged 13 and over may enter the full 10 km race with parental permission. Participants must make their own travel arrangements to Tresco; daily return boats operate between the islands. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
