Anglezarke Amble Challenge
Anglezarke Amble Challenge is a Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA) event run by West Lancashire LDWA. It starts in Lever Park and follows a moorland route through the West Pennine Moors, including Rivington, Anglezarke and Turton Moors—an area locals nicknamed the “Little Lake District.” Walkers choose 17 miles, while the full challenge covers 24 miles; runners may only attempt the long route. The course climbs to landmarks such as Rivington Pike and Winter Hill, then traverses Darwen Moors to Darwen Tower before finishing at Rivington, with refreshments at checkpoints.
The route is renowned for its sweeping moorland scenery and historical sites, and has a 10-hour time limit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
