Manchester - Freddie Purrcury Run
The Manchester - Freddie Purrcury Run is a lap-based running event at Alexandra Park in Oldham. The event marks what would have been Freddie Mercury's 80th birthday and is described as a tribute to his music and his affection for cats. The chosen charity is RSPCA Hollingworth Lake.
The course is predominantly on tarmac within the park. One lap measures 3.28 miles with approximately 246 ft elevation per lap; road shoes are suitable in all weather. There are public toilets and a café on site, and an aid station is provided during the event. The event is held under TRA and UKA rules and is open only to participants aged 18 years or over. All entrants receive a physical memento for their run.
Parking options are available around Alexandra Park, including free public car parks and on-road parking on Queens Road and nearby streets. There are approximately 20 to 30 free spaces at the Alexandra Park car park off Kings Road. Participants are asked to observe local parking restrictions.
Distances are based on completing multiple laps; runners may complete as many laps as they wish within the event limits. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
