Event overview
The Always Ready 5K takes place on October 10, 2026, in Cape May, New Jersey. The event offers the following distances:
- 5K Run
- Virtual 5K
- 3K Always Ready K9
- Virtual K9 Run
Registration opened February 28, 2026. Race shirts are guaranteed for participants registered by September 30; a limited supply may be available after that date. All finishers receive a commemorative Always Ready Challenge Coin. Awards are given to the top three male and female overall finishers and in age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, and ten-year age groups up to 60+.
Course and race details
The 5K starts and finishes at Harborview Park in Cape May and passes Fishermans Memorial and the US Coast Guard Training Center Cape May. Course details are subject to change. The 3K K9 event is for participants with leashed dogs on no longer than a 6 ft lead; dogs must remain calm for the event. K9 runners follow the same route until the entrance to the training center, will not enter the base, and will turnaround near the gate to return to Harborview Park. Virtual 5K and K9 entrants have the month of October to complete their distance and receive the same event swag as the corresponding live race.
