Always Ready 5K
The event at Harborview Park in Cape May, New Jersey includes in-person and virtual options. In-person races include a 5K (3.1 miles) and a 3K Always Ready K9 run/walk that allows dogs to participate when leashed. Virtual 5K and K9 participants have the entire month of October to complete their best time. Virtual entries receive the same participant items as the corresponding live event, with virtual packets mailed after the in-person race.
Registration periods open on February 28 and close on different dates by event: the in-person 5K closes June 30, the virtual 5K closes July 29, and both K9 options close September 28. Fees listed by the organizer are $35 for the in-person 5K, $40 for the virtual 5K, and $45 for both the in-person and virtual K9 runs. Race shirts are guaranteed for those registered by September 30; a limited supply may be available afterward.
Awards go to the top three male and female overall finishers and to age groups including 14 and under, 15-19, and 10-year age groups up to 60 plus. All finishers receive a commemorative Always Ready Challenge Coin. The K9 race requires dogs to be on a leash no longer than 6 foot and to remain calm for the duration; K9 finishers receive a Lead the Way K9 Champion Medal and an Always Ready K9 dog pin.
