Hear Your Song Fall 5K
The Hear Your Song Fall 5K is a hybrid event offering an in-person and a virtual option over a 5K distance. The in-person event is scheduled for Sunday, November 15th in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. The virtual option may be completed anywhere between November 15th and November 30th. The event is presented as a run, walk, or roll.
Hear Your Song is a nonprofit that works with young people living with chronic illnesses through songwriting and music production. Its programs are free of charge. The organization reports six years as a nonprofit, more than 800 youth songwriters, over 1,000 songs created, and more than 500 volunteer mentors, musicians, and lyric video creators.
Proceeds from the Fall 5K will support Camp Hear Your Song. The campaign aims to raise $15,000 to expand the summer camp in 2027, extend programming from two days to three days, and assist with travel and accommodations for out-of-town youth songwriters. Registration is free; a recommended donation of $25 or more is suggested. Participants receive a personal fundraiser page, and participants are encouraged to fundraise toward individual goals in the $200 to $1,000 range.
Prizes are awarded for fundraising outcomes: the participant with the most unique donors and the participant with the highest donation total each receive a gift certificate and a Hear Your Song T-shirt. Participants who raise at least $100 receive a personalized musical shoutout, and all who complete the event and engage donors are entered into a raffle.
For the in-person route, participants gather at the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Memorial Arch at Grand Army Plaza and complete almost one full Inner Loop of Prospect Park clockwise, finishing with a picnic near Meadowport Arch. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
