About the race
The Saving the Elephants 5K & 10K Run/Walk takes place on November 7, 2026 in Central Park at the Naumburg Bandshell, 307 The Mall, New York, NY 10019. The event offers both in person and virtual participation for two distances:
- 5K in person or virtual
- 10K in person or virtual
Base registration options listed include $40 for a 5K and $50 for a 10K; virtual registration windows and mailing of bibs are provided for remote participants. In-person bib pickup is handled at the Naumburg Bandshell on race day, and registration three weeks before the event qualifies an entry to receive a personalized bib number printed in time.
Course amenities include one water station along the course and water at the finish line. Public restrooms are available under the walkway between the bandshell and Bethesda Fountain. The 5K course is USATF certified. Awards are given to the top three male and top three female overall finishers in both the 5K and 10K.
The event supports the Zambezi Elephant Fund. Over the past five years the run has contributed $330,000 toward elephant conservation in Zimbabwe. Fundraising and donation options list specific uses and amounts, for example vehicle support for anti poaching operations, ranger equipment and family rations, educational virtual reality projects, and aerial surveillance time.
