Saving the Elephants 5K & 10K Run/Walk, November 7, 2026
The event takes place on November 7, 2026 at the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park, New York. Participants may join in person at the bandshell or take part virtually during the event window from November 7 through November 15.
Event distances include:
- 5 km in-person or virtual
- 10 km in-person or virtual
The 5K course is USATF certified. There is one water station along the course and additional water at the finish area. Public restrooms are available under the walkway between the bandshell and the Bethesda Fountain. Race bib pickup is available in person on race day. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and top three female overall finishers in both the 5K and the 10K. Event swag is to be announced.
The event supports the Zambezi Elephant Fund. Organizers report that over the past five years the run has contributed about $330,000 to elephant conservation work in Zimbabwe. Fundraising and donation options are listed for specific needs such as vehicle support for anti poaching patrols, ranger equipment and family rations, educational virtual reality projects, and aerial surveillance hours.
