Saving the Elephants 5K & 10K Run/Walk

The event is scheduled for November 7, 2026 at the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park, New York (307 The Mall, New York, NY 10019). It offers both in-person and virtual participation and will proceed rain or shine.

Registration options include in-person and virtual entries. Participants who register at least three weeks before the event will have their name printed on their bib. Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Purchase Protection is offered for a separate fee to cover certain unforeseen qualifying circumstances.

Bib mailing begins the Monday prior to the event; in-person bib pickup is available on race day at the Naumburg Bandshell. Virtual participants may upload times and photos from November 7 through November 15 and can submit results from tracks, treadmills, certified courses, or mapped runs.

The course includes one water station along the route and one at the finish line. Public restrooms are available under the walkway between the bandshell and the Bethesda Fountain. Awards will be given to the top three male and top three female overall finishers in both the 5K and 10K.

The event supports the Zambezi Elephant Fund. Over the past five years the run has contributed $330,000 toward elephant protection in Zimbabwe. Listed donation options include amounts such as $1,000 for vehicle operation, $500 to equip a ranger, $250 for an educational virtual reality project, $100 to support rangers’ families, and $60 for one hour of aerial surveillance.
