Event overview
The Saving the Elephants Run/Walk is the 12th annual 5K and 10K event held in Central Park, New York, at the Naumburg Bandshell (307 The Mall, New York, NY 10019). The event takes place on Saturday, November 7, 2026, rain or shine. The course includes one water station along the route and at the finish. Public bathrooms are available under the walkway between the bandshell and the Bethesda Fountain. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and top three female overall finishers in both the 5K and 10K.
Registration, logistics and fundraising
Registration is offered for in-person and virtual participation. Base entry prices listed are $40 for the 5K and $50 for the 10K, with noted price increases on September 7 for later registration. The first 300 registrants receive a 2025 event t-shirt, with sizes not guaranteed. Bib pickup is available in person at the Naumburg Bandshell on race day; personalized bibs are available for those who register several weeks in advance.
The event supports the Zambezi Elephant Fund. Recent contributions from the run total $330,000 over five years. Fundraising and donation options are listed for specific needs such as vehicle support, ranger equipment, community education, virtual reality projects for schools, rations for ranger families, and aerial surveillance.
