The New Yorker Half, 10K, and 5K Shake Out

The event takes place at Flushing Meadow Corona Park, with the start at the Unisphere in front of the Queens Museum. It includes in-person and virtual options for three distances:

  • Half Marathon 13.1 Miles
  • 10K
  • 5K

The half marathon uses a 3.275 mile loop that is run four times. The 10K and 5K use a 3.1 mile loop; 10K athletes complete two laps and 5K athletes complete one lap. The course goes around a lake and passes park landmarks.

Course support is provided approximately every mile with gels, Gatorade, and water, using paper cups. Trash receptacles and volunteers are placed on the course. Every loop is timed in real time so participants can be tracked per lap; video and images are uploaded within two hours after the race. Amenities include a technical T-shirt, a die-cast finisher medal, and a personalized bib number. Awards are given to the top three male and female overall finishers and to age group winners across standard age brackets.

Packet pick up is on race day only and participants are asked to arrive by 8:30 AM. Parking lots are located within one to five minutes of the start. Train access includes 67th Street Station (about a 29 minute walk) and Mets-WillitsPoint (about a 21 minute walk). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
