Race to Build 5K and 1-Mile Walk
The Race to Build is a community sports event held at Overpeck County Park in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. The event serves as a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County, supporting the organization's mission to provide affordable housing and stability for families in the northern New Jersey region. The 5K race takes place on a paved, USATF Official Certified Course that travels through scenic areas along the water. This race is part of the USATF Paul Miller Grand Prix Series and offers participants 500 points. The course starts near the Overpeck County Park Amphitheater. Competitive runners are recognized during a closing ceremony where medals are awarded to the top male and female finishers in various categories. These categories are divided into five-year age increments, ranging from under 12 to 85 and older.
The 1 Mile Walk provides a non-competitive alternative for families, retirees, and other community members. This distance is open to those who prefer a casual pace and is a pet-friendly option for participants with leashed animals.
