Girls on the Run Greater Charlotte 5K Celebration
The event is a season closing 5K that gives Girls on the Run and Heart & Sole program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. The course distance is a standard 5K (3.1 miles). Crossing the finish line is accompanied by a commemorative finisher medal for every registered participant who completes the course.
The council schedules this celebratory 5K on December 12, 2026, at 1423 Red Ventures Dr., Fort Mill, SC 29707. The event is held rain or shine and offers free parking and designated accessible parking spots. The course is monitored during the event, race bibs are required for all participants, and a finish line clock is available; the 5K is not chip timed.
Registration and participant rules include the following facts: program participants and coaches are pre-registered and do not need to register again; family and community members may register to join the 5K; running buddies must be age 16 or older and every program participant must have a running buddy for the event. Early bird, general, and late registration pricing applies, and late registration adds an additional fee during the week of the event. Registered running buddies and community runners receive an event t-shirt while supplies last. Strollers are allowed in the final wave. Pets and drones are not permitted.
Volunteer roles for the event include registration, course marshals, water stations and cheer stations; volunteers appointed through the council undergo a background check. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
