Matthews Kiwanis Labor Day 5K
The Matthews Kiwanis Labor Day 5K takes place on Labor Day, September 7, 2026, at the Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation Sportsplex in Matthews, North Carolina. The event is organized by the Kiwanis Club of Matthews as a fundraiser to support community programs such as Clothes for Kids, Terrific Kids, and Matthews Gives Back.
The 5K is a certified out and back course (NC26010DF) using paved pathways around and between the Sportsplex stadium and nearby soccer fields. There is mapped routing and nearby parking, and public restrooms are available close to the course start.
Race day registration tables will provide bib numbers and race shirts. T-shirts are guaranteed for participants who register before midnight on August 24; after that date shirts are distributed on a first come, first served basis. There is no packet pickup prior to race day. A separate Fun Run registration fee does not include a race shirt.
Pre-registration is priced at $35 online until midnight on September 5. After that time registration is $45 and will be handled online at the registration tables. The event proceeds help fund local Kiwanis programs. The race will be held rain or shine unless directors determine conditions are too dangerous; if the race is canceled for weather there are no refunds or transfers.
