About the race
The Chiltern Hills 100K is a 100K trail ultramarathon run as an anticlockwise loop through the Chiltern Hills, starting and finishing at Chesham Guides Headquarters in Lowndes Park, Chesham (HP5 1HX). The course gains approximately 1800 m of elevation and is fully marked with arrows and ribbons. Open GPS tracking and chip timing with live results are used.
The route passes National Trust land and sections of The Ridgeway, including Ashridge Estate, Ivinghoe Beacon to Aldbury, Tring Park, Wendover, Coombe Hill, Whiteleaf Hill, Bledlow Ridge, Great Hampden and Great Missenden before returning to Chesham. Checkpoints are located at Hastoe (14.0 km and 41.4 km), Little Gaddesden (28.0 km), Whiteleaf Hill (57.8 km), Bledlow Ridge Village Hall (75.3 km) and Little Hampden (88.0 km). Several checkpoints have toilets. Drop bags are available at the Hastoe checkpoint.
Aid stations provide water, coke, Precision Fuel & Hydration products (pre-mixed PH 1000 electrolyte, PF 30 gels and chews), crisps, sweets, pre-made sandwiches, Chia Charge mini flapjacks and fresh fruit; hot drinks are available around 44 km, 60 km and 75 km. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UKA rules; it is an UTMB World Series index race. Maximum field size is 250 runners and minimum age is 20 years.
Runners must carry required kit for the entire run, including a mobile phone with the emergency number saved, route GPX, minimum 0.5 L refillable hydration, waterproof or windproof jacket, additional warm layers and leg cover, head torch with spare battery, reusable cup, basic first aid supplies, and either cash or bank card.
