Newport 10 Miler
The Newport 10 Miler is an annual spring ten mile run and walk held in Newport, Rhode Island. The course starts and finishes at Fort Adams State Park and follows a coastal route along the city waterfront. The event typically draws over 2,000 runners and walkers.
Registration includes a race bib with timing chip and an athlete shirt. Packet pick-up is offered on multiple days at Ragged Island Brewing and at Fort Adams, with onsite registration available. Participants must show a photo ID at pick-up; those collecting bibs for others must provide a copy or photo of the ID. On race morning a designated gear bag drop is available inside Fort Adams; athletes use the number assigned at registration to identify their bag and must supply their own bag.
Parking is available at Fort Adams. The walk from the designated parking areas to the starting area is roughly half a mile. There are limited access roads to Newport and Fort Adams, so traffic and wait times should be anticipated. Some participants park off site and ride bicycles into Fort Adams; BikeNewport provides bike racks onsite.
All finishers receive a medal. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers and to the top athlete in each age group using five year increments from Under 19 through 70 plus. A post race beer garden from Ragged Island is available to registrants 21 plus, with one complimentary beer included. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
