Event Overview
The Harbin Branch Veterans Run is an annual sports event held at the Doe Mountain Recreation Area in Mountain City, Tennessee. Now in its fourth year, the event takes place on the non-motorized trail system of the mountain. This event is USATF sanctioned and serves as a fundraiser, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Mountain City Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization.
Course Information
Participants can choose from three different distances on the trail network:
- 6 Miler: This route features approximately 600 feet of elevation gain and utilizes the hiking loop and a new trail connection.
- 4 Miler: This course includes approximately 350 feet of elevation gain across specific hiking loops and switchbacks.
- 1K Fun Walk: An untimed walk option for participants.
Both the 4 Miler and 6 Miler running events have a 2.5-hour cutoff time. The courses utilize Trail 2 and Trail 112 behind the Adventure Center.
Participation Details
Participants in the running distances receive a race logo beanie and a finisher award, though race t-shirts are not provided. The 1K Fun Walk does not include a beanie in the standard registration, but one can be added separately. Awards are presented to the top three women and men in both running distances, as well as the top female and male veteran finishers. A discount is available for veterans and students using a specific code at registration. The event maintains a policy of no refunds, bib transfers, or deferrals.
