Salute the Troops 5k & 10k

This event offers two distances on the paved trails around Glenn Dale Community Center in Glenn Dale, Maryland. The route is flat with a slight decline on the way out and uses an out and back layout: the 5 km goes out and back once, and the 10 km goes out and back twice.

The event is chip timed. Registered runners receive a finisher medal and a technical event shirt; shirts are guaranteed for entries completed before October 28 and are available afterward on a first come, first served basis. Live results are posted on Athlinks and final results with series points are posted on the organizer’s website after the race. A virtual race option is offered for those not attending in person.

Points from this race count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack Series and toward the Fall Series. The event supports the Code of Support Foundation, a nonprofit that provides free one on one assistance to military members, veterans, and their families for housing, benefits, employment, and other needs.

Practical details include packet pickup at the venue, restrooms inside the community center, water stations located approximately at mile markers 1.55, 3.1 and 4.65 on the 10 km course and at 1.55 on the 5 km course, and a stated policy that unauthorized runners are not permitted.
