Emancipation Day 5K
The Emancipation Day 5K is scheduled for September 5, 2026 in Laurel, Maryland at 497 8th St., Alice B McCullough Field. This is the 14th annual Emancipation Day Diabetes 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Walk, offered as in person and virtual options.

The event benefits the University of Maryland Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology Midtown. The center serves children and adults with diabetes across Baltimore City and surrounding counties, provides clinical care to help manage diabetes and prevent complications, and sees over 3,000 patients annually, including people with Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes.
Registration opens January 16, 2026 and closes in early September 2026. Listed registration fees vary by entry type: $25.00 for the 5K, $20.00 for the Fun Walk, and $30.00 for the Virtual 5K. In-person registration includes a custom race bib and a race medal. Virtual registrants receive a mailed race bib and finisher medal with shipping included.
Results will be available online immediately after the event. Awards are presented on site for overall and age groups.
