Emancipation Day 5K
The Emancipation Day 5K is an annual run/walk held in Laurel, Maryland, at Alice B McCullough Field, 497 8th St., Laurel, MD 20707. The event takes place in early September and offers both in-person and virtual participation.

Format and race services
Registration includes a custom race bib and a race medal. Virtual entrants receive a mailed race bib and finisher medal, with shipping included. Results are posted online immediately after the race and awards are presented on site for overall and age-group finishers. The event is professionally timed by Blue Cheetah Sports Timing. The event is held rain or shine and no refunds are offered. Race packets are available near the start/finish point beginning at 6:30 am on race morning, and parking is available at the same location. Registration for the events opens on January 16, 2026.
Beneficiary
The event benefits the University of Maryland Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology-Midtown. The center serves children and adults across Baltimore City and surrounding counties, and sees over 3,000 patients annually, including those with Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes.
