South Downs 100 Mile (Autumn Event)

The South Downs 100 Mile is a point-to-point trail race through the South Downs National Park in East Sussex. The course follows a single loop that starts and finishes at Plumpton Racecourse. The terrain consists of 95% trails and 5% road, featuring rolling hills and approximately 12,000 feet of total elevation gain.

Participants have a 34-hour cutoff time to complete the distance. The route includes 12 aid stations providing a variety of food and drinks, including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. To support sustainability, the event does not provide energy gels or single-use plastic cups; runners are encouraged to bring their own hydration systems and foldable cups.

Registration requires a qualification of having completed at least one 50-mile race within the last four years. The minimum age for entry is 20 years old. Mandatory kit is required for all participants, including items such as a waterproof jacket, headlamps with backup, a foil blanket, and a mobile phone with the route downloaded as a GPX file.

The event includes:

  • 100 miles

Finishers receive a buckle and a medal. Live GPS tracking is provided for all runners. Onsite camping is available at Plumpton Racecourse for participants over the weekend. The race is a UTMB Index race and awards 5 ITRA points. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
