The River Run

The River Run is a half marathon distance event held in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex. The course starts and finishes at the Adur Recreation Ground. This event serves as the final race in the four-part South Coast Series.

The route is flat and covers a variety of terrain including urban footpaths, riverside footpaths, and sections of light trail. Following a loop of the Adur Recreation Ground, the path takes participants alongside Shoreham Airport, across the Toll Bridge, and onto the Downs Link towards Upper Beeding. The updated course incorporates a newly built bridge in the Upper Beeding and Bramber area, passing behind the historic Bramber Castle before returning along the opposite side of the river.

Participants are organized into waves to manage course capacity. The event features an accurately measured route with clear signage, including markers, ribbons, and arrows. Support services provided include:

  • Half Marathon (approx. 21.1 km)

The course is marshalled with professional traffic management in place for safety. Participants have access to on-site toilets, a free baggage drop at the Race HQ, and multiple water and aid stations stocked with gels and fruit. Chip timing is used to provide accurate results for all runners.

At the finish line, participants receive a bespoke medal and a complimentary drink and snack. The event village includes a finishers marquee, race day photography, and food and drink trucks with seating for spectators. The event is open to individuals aged 18 and over.
