The River Run
The River Run is a running event featuring a Half Marathon and a new 8 Mile race held at Lancing College in 2027. The event is noted as being featured in Runner’s World in May 2026 and returns to a new venue after two sold-out years. Both distances start and finish within the grounds of Lancing College.
The Half Marathon follows much of the previous year’s route but omits the section alongside the airport. The course heads toward the Toll Bridge, joins the Downs Link for a smoother and wider trail to Upper Beeding, passes through the town and across a newly built bridge, goes behind Bramber Castle, then rejoins the river on the opposite bank for the return to Lancing College. The route includes a mix of gravel paths, riverside trails, open countryside, town footpaths, fields, light trail sections and some of the race’s characteristic stiles.
Runners are released in separate start waves to reduce congestion. The event is the final race of the 2027 South Coast Series. On race day the event provides chip timing, professional race-day photography from Pace Line Media, a bespoke finisher medal, trophies for the top three, accurately signed course markings, water and aid stations, on-site toilets, free baggage drop, a post-race drink and snack, food and drink vendors, and a fully marshalled course with professional traffic management.
