About the race

The Brathay 10in10 is a stage race first held in 2007 that asks participants to complete 10 marathons in 10 days by running ten laps of the official Windermere Marathon course. The route circles Windermere, England's largest lake, and Brathay Hall on the lakeshore serves as the event centre with the start and finish lines and a base for accommodation, recovery and rest throughout the event.

The event provides structured preparation and on-event support. Entrants attend a training weekend in early January with accommodation at Brathay Hall, a fully supported marathon option and sessions on fundraising, training, nutrition and health. During the ten days of the race participants receive pre, during and post race nutrition, access to daily therapy and injury management from sports rehabilitation students and a consultant in sport and exercise medicine, plus on-course support and event volunteers.

Completion of the ten days grants automatic membership of the Brathay 10in10 Club. Since the event began, 174 runners have completed the challenge, accumulating 249 total Brathay 10in10 finishes through repeat participations. The event also supports Brathay Trust’s work with children and young people and is backed by a range of partners, sponsors and volunteers who provide logistical, medical and product support.
