Keswick Lakeland Trails
The event is a set of trail races and a challenge taking place in Keswick with start and finish at Fitz Park. Courses are circuits on well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways that pass Derwentwater and views of Skiddaw, Blencathra and the northern fells. Underfoot conditions are generally good for trail running but include varied surfaces and occasional muddy sections; the courses have no stiles.
Distances on offer:
- 5K Derwentwater Sport Trail, open to those aged 12 and over, no time limit.
- 10K Derwentwater Trail Run, minimum age 16, two hour time limit.
- 15K Derwentwater Trail Race and 15K Derwentwater Trail Challenge, minimum age 18; Race has a two hour limit and Challenge a three and a half hour limit with a cut-off at 4.8K.
There is one water station on the 10K (around 6K) and one on the 15K (around 11K); finish drinking water is also available. Competitors must carry their own cup or water supply because cups are not provided on course. Bone conduction headphones are permitted but over ear and in ear headphones are not allowed. Dogs are not allowed on the course.
The event village at Fitz Park includes live music, commentary, food and drink stalls, event merchandise and race photography. Keswick School is used for event parking; car parking charges apply, with free parking for vehicles carrying four or more people. Registration details and race number collection are managed on the day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
