Keswick Lakeland Trails : Derwentwater events
A series of trail events starts and finishes at Fitz Park in Keswick. The routes are circuits on well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways around Derwentwater, with views of Skiddaw, Blencathra and the northern fells. Underfoot is mainly hard packed trail with occasional muddy sections; the course has no stiles and includes sections such as the Glenderaterra Valley.
The event includes multiple distances:
- 5K Derwentwater Sport Trail : age 12+, no time limit.
- 10K Derwentwater Trail Run : age 16+, 2 hour time limit; prizes for Race start.
- 15K Derwentwater Trail Race : age 18+, 2 hour time limit; prizes for Race start.
- 15K Derwentwater Trail Challenge : age 18+, 3.5 hour time limit; 60 minute cut-off at 4.8K.
Courses are marshalled by volunteers and runners should be prepared to slow or walk on tricky terrain. Water is available at designated stations but no disposable cups are provided, so participants are asked to carry their own water or a re usable cup. In ear and over ear headphones are not permitted; bone conductor devices are allowed. Dogs are not allowed on the course.
Race numbers are collected on race day and must be attached horizontally so timing chips read correctly. Entries are not transferable and there are no entries on the day. An event village offers local food stalls, live music, race commentary and event photography; free photos will be available after the event.
