The event is broken down into the following stages:
- A 1.5 km lake swim in Windermere.
- A 46.5 km road bike segment.
- An 18 km mountain run to the summit of Scafell Pike (England's highest mountain) and back.
- A second road bike segment of 45.5 km.
- A final 1 km trail run.
The bike course passes Coniston Water.
