About the race
The Charlottesville Turkey Trot 5k is a community running event held in Charlottesville with both an in-person race and a virtual option. The course starts and finishes next to Albemarle High School and follows neighborhood streets with flat stretches and gentle rolling hills, totaling 133 feet of elevation gain. Ample parking is available at Albemarle High School, Journey Middle School, and Greer Elementary.

The event supports two local food assistance organizations: the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, an affiliate of Feeding America serving Central Virginia, and Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, which distributes free groceries to households on the race route.
Registration fees are listed as $30 for the live 5K and $35 for the virtual option; late registration increases to $48 during the stated late registration period. Registration includes a soft technical race shirt while supplies last; registering by October 26 guarantees a shirt in the requested size.
Blue Ridge Timing provides chip timing for the course. Packet pickup is available at Connect Church on the two days before the race and on race morning at the Albemarle High School main track entrance. Local Albemarle EMT medical services will be on site. Event rules note no dogs on course and that strollers are permitted only in the final wave.
