Monster Marmot Trail Run
Monster Marmot is a community trail race at Mount Washington Alpine Resort on September 20, 2026. The event offers two distances and runs on alpine and mountain singletrack. All net proceeds from registrations are donated to the Marmot Recovery Foundation. Mount Washington hosts the Tony Barrett Marmot Recovery Centre, a breeding facility that supports the Vancouver Island Marmot recovery program.

Both distances begin with a steep climb on Giv’r Trail. The 5 km route descends via Linton’s Loop back to the Alpine Lodge and has a proposed 3 hour course cutoff. The 10 km continues to West Summit Ridge, crosses exposed ridgeline terrain, drops into forested singletrack and returns via the Finger Trail, with over 500 metres of elevation gain and a proposed 4 hour cutoff. Course terrain is described as rocky, rooted, technical and exposed in places; hiking and hands-on terrain may be required.
Timing and support details note that the race will not use chip timing; a finish-line clock and manual finish-order system will be used. Marshals and volunteers will staff key intersections. Final course maps, GPX files, elevation profiles, aid information and mandatory equipment requirements will be released before race day. Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Participants must register under their legal name, complete the required waiver, attend a mandatory pre-race briefing and follow race rules; hiking poles are not permitted.
