Event overview
The Mind Over Mountain Adventure Race (MOMAR) is a weekend adventure race held in Cumberland, BC on Vancouver Island. The event takes place in and around the town and its surrounding forests and shorelines and features single-track mountain bike trails and ocean views. The 2026 event notes a long-running history and capacity for up to 1000 racers. Registration opens January 1, 2026. The event provides kayak rentals, a mandatory gear list with surprise checks and a five-minute penalty per missing item, volunteer opportunities, and listed community sponsors and fundraising partners.
Race formats and logistics
Racers select one of three courses. Distances and stage types are approximate and the exact course route and the order of stages are not published until race day; trekking and biking distances may be split into multiple stages.
- 20K Quest - 5K paddle, 15K trek
- 30K Sport - 5K paddle, 15K mountain bike, 10K trek
- 50K Enduro - 10K paddle, 25K mountain bike, 15K trek
