Zoar Merry Miles

Zoar Merry Miles is a community running event centered at the Zoar Community Center in Zoar, Ohio, taking place during the village's Christmas decorations. The event features a main 5K Run/Walk and a Kid's Fun Run for children 10 and under; a family member may accompany a child in the Kid's Fun Run.

The course mixes roads and trail and includes a few moderate hills. It passes the Zoar Garden, crosses the iron bridge, travels alongside wetlands, and uses a trail that returns to the village. Some trail sections are narrow and have exposed tree roots, so strollers are not permitted. Dogs on a fixed leash are allowed on the course.

Registration opens July 1, 2026. The 5K has a registration fee of $25 and its registration closes September 7, 2026; the Kid's Fun Run is free and its registration closes December 5, 2026. Packet pickup and registration occur the morning of the event.

Refreshments at the finish include cookies, soup, water, hot chocolate, granola bars, and fruit. The 5K participants receive a long sleeved t-shirt in sizes Adult X-Small to 2X-Large or a No T-Shirt Option for a five dollar discount; shirts are limited after November 13. All 5K finishers receive a locally handcrafted medal and Kid's Fun Run participants receive a kid's medal.

Awards recognize the top three overall female and male finishers and the top three female and male finishers in each age group: 9 and under, 10 to 14, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 plus. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
