Event

Zip Thaw is a canicross running event hosted by TYDISH Running at Lake Geneva Ziplines and Adventures in Lake Geneva, WI (N3232 Co Trunk H). The event offers two distance options:

  • 8 Miler
  • 4 Miler

Registration closes Fri, Mar 13.

Course and rules

The venue contains over 12 miles of wooded single track trails that are shared with mountain bikers. The race begins on a gravel service road that leads into rolling, winding single track marked by yellow utility ground flags. The 4 mile loop has 463 ft of vertical gain and 479 ft of vertical loss; the 8 mile option consists of two laps of the 4 mile loop. Participants should yield to other trail users and follow posted directional signs.

Canicross-specific rules require a dog-powered setup with the dog wearing a non-restrictive Y-type harness. The harness may connect to the handler via a bungee line while the handler also wears a harness, or the handler may use a handheld leash. Off-leash running is not allowed. Metal choke collars and face-harness "gentle leader" devices are not permitted.

Logistics and amenities

Check-in is offered the morning of the event; race day signup is not available. The start/finish area provides water, an electrolyte drink refill, and dog water bowls. This is a cupless event; participants must carry their own hydration vessel. No aid stations or restrooms are located on course; facilities are at the start/finish area and inside the main building. Dogs are not allowed inside the building. Podium awards are given to the top three women and men teams for each distance, and each finisher receives a completion token. Alcohol and noise makers like cowbells are not permitted on the grounds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
