About the race
Cold Coding is a dog-focused trail running event organized by TYDISH Running at Lake Geneva Ziplines and Adventures, N3232 County Road H, Lake Geneva, WI. The event centers on Canicross, where a runner is attached hands free to a dog with a bungee style line and waist belt. It also permits dogs on a Y-shaped harness with a hand held leash, described as dog friendly rather than Canicross. Participants may register without a dog as a "Soulo" runner.
The course is a loop on zipline grounds and on mixed single-track trails with winding, technical sections and some bridges used by mountain bikers. The loop distance and elevation for one circuit are:
- 4 miles, one loop
- 8 miles, two loops
Course elevation for the 4 mile loop is 463 ft ascent and 479 ft descent. The grounds are not for exclusive use, so runners should yield to other users.
Top three men and women overall in each distance earn awards, but only participants with a dog are eligible for podium placement. Participants who shorten their preselected distance become ineligible for podium standings. Signup fees include registration, drinks, snacks, and a finisher gift; apparel is not included. On course there will be water and an electrolyte drink but no single use disposable cups, so participants should bring their own hydration vessel. A table for drop bags is available for multiple loop runners. Alcohol and artificial noise makers such as cowbells are prohibited.
