Cold Coding : Canicross and dog-friendly trail runs at Lake Geneva
This event is a Canicross-focused run at Lake Geneva Ziplines and Adventures in Lake Geneva, WI, organized by TYDISH Running. Participants choose to run one loop or two loops of the course.
- 4 miles single loop on the zipline grounds
- 8 miles two loops of the same course
The loop is built on winding singletrack with technical sections and occasional bridges used by mountain bikes. The 4-mile loop has approximately 463 ft of ascent and 479 ft of descent. The course begins with a climb that separates runners before entering the singletrack. The grounds are shared with other users; participants should yield when encountering others.
Canicross is defined here as running hands free while attached to a dog with a bungee-style line and waist belt. The event also allows dogs on a Y-shaped harness with a handheld leash as a dog-friendly option. People may register without a dog as a Soulo runner.
Awards are given to the top three men and top three women overall in each distance; only participants running with dogs are eligible for podium awards. Participants who shorten a preselected distance become ineligible for podium standings. All finishers receive a practical finisher gift rather than a medal.
On-course offerings include water and an electrolyte drink; disposable cups are not provided so bring a refillable hydration vessel. A drop-bag table is available for multi-loop runners. Alcohol and noisy devices such as cowbells are not allowed. Leave No Trace is enforced and disrespectful behavior can result in disqualification.
