34th Annual YMCA Turkey Trot
The YMCA Turkey Trot is an annual event held in Fredericksburg, Virginia, during the Thanksgiving period. Now in its 34th year, the event utilizes the streets of scenic downtown Fredericksburg and the James Monroe High School (JMHS) track. The proceeds from the event are directed toward Rappahannock Area YMCA programs focused on youth empowerment, community health, and affordable access to services.
Participants can choose from several different race distances and categories over a two-day schedule:
- 5K Run: A course through the downtown area for runners and walkers.
- Wheelchair 5K: A 5K distance specifically for wheelchair participants.
- 1 Mile Kids Run: Structured into four waves based on gender and age (8 and under, and 9-12 years old).
- Tot Trot (400m): A quarter-mile race on the JMHS track for children aged 5 and under.
The Tot Trot takes place on Wednesday afternoon, while the other races occur on Thanksgiving morning. All participants who complete their respective races receive a finisher medal. Registration fees vary depending on the chosen event, and there are specific age categories for the youth-focused distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
