YMCA of Barry County Turkey Trot
The YMCA of Barry County holds an annual Turkey Trot near YMCA Camp Algonquin on November 26, 2026. The event offers two timed and untimed options: a 5K run/walk and a 1 Mile Fun Run. Packet pick-up is available the day before at the YMCA and on race morning. Registrations received by November 18 include a short sleeve shirt; late registrants will not receive a shirt. The 1 Mile Fun Run is free but does not include a shirt.
Entry fees for the 5K change by registration date with lower early bird rates and higher late rates. Prizes are awarded to the top male and female adult 5K finishers (turkeys donated by a local farm) and to the top male and female youth 5K finishers (a dozen donuts). A best dressed prize is given for festive fall attire. A School Challenge recognizes the school with the highest participation rate and the Turkey Trophy is presented after Thanksgiving.
Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for donation; collected items are given to the local United Way. After finishing, attendees may gather on the Camp Algonquin front lawn for hot cocoa, water, and giveaways.
