Course and logistics
Most routes are out-and-back on former railway track, giving a predominantly flat surface of compact stone path and tarmac with some uneven sections. Tunnel running features in each route: the Valley View 10 km has about 2 km in tunnel, the Valley View half has 4 km, the Tintern Station half has 2 km, and the Tintern Station marathon has 4 km in tunnel. The Tintern Station routes include a short rocky section (about 50 m) and a few flights of steps. The marathon has a 3 hour cut off to start the second lap.
Feast and drink provision varies by distance: at least one feast station on the 10 km, three on the half marathon, and seven on the marathon. Water, electrolytes and a mix of food including gluten free, dairy free and vegan options are provided; flat coke is available on lap 2 of the marathon. Facilities at the event include on-site toilets, a mobile coffee van and a bag drop. The 10 km and Valley View half are suitable for runners with buggies; canicross is not permitted. Medals are awarded to finishers of 5 km and longer distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
