Clevedon Triathlon
The Clevedon Triathlon is scheduled for Sunday 18th July 2027 (TBC) at Salthouse Fields, Clevedon, North Somerset. It is organised as a sprint triathlon following British Triathlon Federation guidelines and is a permitted BTF event.
The course distances are:
- 750 m open water swim in Clevedon Marine Lake.
- 20 km scenic coastal bike route towards Portishead and back.
- 5 km run completed as two laps on promenade and mixed trails.
The swim takes place inside the Marine Lake and is marked by red buoys. Water safety craft and kayakers will be on the water; marshals can assist at the slipway exit. The bike route is undulating, offers coastal views, and is marshalled with route signage. The run mixes flat paved seafront promenade and undulating trails around Poets Walk and Wains Hill, finishing at Salthouse Fields.
The event uses timing chips with online split and total times. Transition is secure and marshalled; athletes must show their race number to access transition and collect kit. Wave starts are used with limited numbers per wave to reduce congestion on the swim.
The organiser operates a cupless policy: water stations are provided but athletes should bring their own collapsible cup or bottle. Medals are optional extras at booking and relay teams must purchase medals for each member if required. If lake conditions are unsafe the event may be run as a duathlon.
