Workington Summer 5K Series
The Workington 5k Series is a sequence of four running events held in Workington, Great Britain. This specific event marks the second race in the series. The competition takes place at the Workington Cricket Club, specifically located at the Earnest Valentine Ground in The Cloffocks. The course for this race follows Route B, which has been officially measured and certified by the Association of UK Course Measurers.
Participants have the option to register for individual races or multiple events within the series. Registrations are available for a single 5 km race, or as a combined entry for the remaining races in the series. Timing services are provided by Timing Up North using chip timing technology to ensure accurate results for all competitors.
The event operations are based inside the cricket club, where registration occurs and race numbers are distributed. A lead bike and a sweeper runner are present on the course to assist with navigation and participant safety. While the event is hosted at the cricket club, there is no parking available on the club grounds themselves.
Awards are presented to the first, second, and third male and female finishers for each individual race. Additionally, a points system is used to track performance across the entire series. Runners who complete at least three of the four scheduled races qualify for overall series prizes, which are awarded based on five-year veteran age categories at the conclusion of the final event.
