The Langstrath Fell Race takes place on Wednesday 17 June 2026 at Langstrath Country Inn, Stonethwaite, Borrowdale, CA12 5XG. The course distance is 7.5 km with 430 m of climb. The race is categorized AS; this implies less than 20% of the distance is on road, an average climb of at least 50 m per kilometre, and the race is longer than 1.5 km. The S classification indicates the race is under 10 km. The NS code means some navigational skills are required. The minimum age for entry is 18. Entries and prizes
Entries are on the day only. The entry fee is £8.00. The race has a limit of 120 entries. Teams are allowed, with three runners to count for team prizes. Prize money is equal for men and women and is awarded across age classes. Prize levels include: 1st £30, 2nd £15, 3rd £10 for overall; age-class prizes from £15 down to £8; team prizes of chocolates.
Course and kit
The race starts outside the Langstrath Country Inn. Much of the route is free choice but a marked green route is shown as easiest to follow. A compulsory flagged section passes through a SSSI and must be followed. The route passes Stonethwaite Bridge, climbs to open fell, goes to Dock Tarn, then follows tracks to Watendlath and back via Rosthwaite to the finish by the village street. The race organiser may set kit requirements; competitors should be prepared to carry full FRA kit (waterproof whole-body cover with hood, hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle and emergency food) if required.
