Woods Creek Feet Meet
The Woods Creek Feet Meet is a family-focused running event in Crystal Lake that aims to encourage physical fitness within the school community. The event features organized 1 mile and 5K fun run/walk options alongside shorter youth races and a shirt-only order option.
Distances and youth races include:
- 1 mile fun run/walk.
- 5K run/walk.
- 50 yard dash for PreK to 5th grade held, weather permitting, in the school parking lot after the 5K.
Registration is organized by age groups and fee categories. Woods Creek students receive Crazy Cub medals and are eligible for trophies awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place students in grades K to 5. All participants receive a ribbon; non-students are not eligible for the student medals. Proceeds are used for trophies, t shirts, and event expenses.
The event welcomes strollers and walkers and asks that pets remain at home to keep the course safe. Participation has ranged from about 400 to over 1,000 runners historically. The meet is supported by parent volunteers who help with tasks such as stuffing race bags, handing out packets, course support, and cheering.
