Event Overview
The Woodford Community Duathlon is a multisport event held at the Woodford War Memorial Community Centre in Cheshire. Located near Stockport and South Manchester, the race provides a grassroots atmosphere for participants aged 15 and over. The event utilizes a manual timing system rather than electronic chip timing to maintain a community-focused environment.
Race Formats
Participants can select from two distinct distances:
- Swim Bike Run Distance: Features a 2.4 km run, followed by an 11.5 km cycle, and a final 1 km run.
- Sprint Duathlon: Consists of a 4.4 km run, a 19.5 km cycle, and a 2.4 km run.
Course Details
The event takes place on smooth tarmac surfaces. The run routes are flat, while the bike course is mostly flat with the inclusion of one short climb. The transition area is designed to be compact and easy to navigate. The entire course is fully marshalled and features clearly signed routes for both the running and cycling segments.
Participant Information
Every finisher receives a medal from the McA Series. The event provides water and sweets at the finish line. Facilities at the venue include a safe transition area and free on-site parking, though a height restriction of 2.1 m exists at the entrance.
