Stanza Stones Ultra

Website

The Stanza Stones Ultra is a 50-mile linear trail run in the South Pennines, connecting Marsden and Ilkley. Featuring over 6,800 feet of ascent, the route highlights six unique Stanza Stones—poems about water by Poet Laureate Simon Armitage—carved into rocks along the course. Runners traverse high moorlands, valleys, and notable landmarks including Haworth village, home of the Brontë sisters, and parts of the Pennine Way and Ilkley Moor.

The event offers indoor checkpoints with food, live tracking, and a finishers' memento. It celebrates both natural beauty and literary heritage, making it a distinctive ultra running experience. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Always double-check with the organizer's website – things can change, and we might have sprinted past a few details!
