Stanza Stones Ultra
The Stanza Stones Ultra is a 50-mile linear trail run in the South Pennines, connecting Marsden and Ilkley with over 6,800 feet of ascent. The route features six unique Stanza Stones—poems about water by Poet Laureate Simon Armitage—carved into rocks along the course. Runners traverse high moorlands, valleys, and notable landmarks including Haworth village, famous for the Brontë sisters, and parts of the Pennine Way and Ilkley Moor.
The event offers indoor checkpoints with food, live tracking, and a finishers' meal and memento. It is a challenging and scenic ultra that blends literature, nature, and local heritage. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
Always double-check with the organizer's website – things can change, and we might have sprinted past a few details!
