Women Can Marathon
Women Can Marathon is a women only running event in East Devon on 18 April 2027 that commemorates the 60th anniversary of Katherine Switzer's run in the Boston Marathon. The event offers three predominantly off road race options and includes community activities around the race weekend.
Distances offered:
- Marathon: route includes parts of the Exe Estuary, the East Devon Way, the Otter Valley and the Southwest Coast Path, finishing where it starts.
- Half Marathon: follows the second half of the marathon route, starting in Tipton St John and finishing in Exmouth.
- 10 km: follows the Southwest Coast Path from Budleigh Salterton to Exmouth.
Entries open 6 March 2026 and close 10 April 2027. Standard entry fees are listed for each distance and increase from 01/02/2027. Cut-off times are stated for the longer distances - nine hours for the marathon and seven hours for the half marathon - with an option of an earlier start on the marathon if additional time is needed.
The event schedule includes a pre race dinner on the Saturday and family focused activities on the Sunday; further details will be announced and entrants registered before those announcements will be notified early about sign up options.
Participants may use running or trekking poles but should take care on narrow sections. Bone conducting headphones are allowed; in ear or over ear headphones are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
