Event Overview
The Dark Dart Dash is a night trail run held at Dartington Estate in Devon. The event supports a fundraiser for a new playground at Dartington Hall.
Courses and Distances
The event offers several distances:
- 10 km (single lap)
- 5 km (single lap)
- 2 km for children aged 8-11
- 1 km for children aged 3-7
A canicross option (running with a dog) is available for the 10 km and 5 km distances. These races start shortly after the individual runs. For the kids' races, parents may run with their children at no extra cost. Children aged 8 and above may participate in the 5 km if accompanied by an adult at all times.
Terrain and Requirements
The longer courses are on mixed terrain, including gravel, grass, some tarmac, and potentially mud. The children's courses are run on grass. All participants must bring a head or chest torch. Trail shoes are strongly recommended.
Venue and Facilities
The event is based at the Green Table Cafe at Dartington Hall. The cafe hosts registration and offers pizza, hot drinks, and a bar after the finish. Ample paid parking is available, which becomes free after 6pm.
Included Amenities
Participants receive professional RFID chip timing, a fully marked and marshalled course, free event photos, and a custom race number. All finishers get a medal and a free hot drink or half a beer. There is a fancy dress competition, team prizes, and awards for overall and category winners.
