Wings for Life World Run - Dania Beach

The Wings for Life World Run in Dania Beach is a global charity event where every participant starts at the exact same moment. This event is an App Run, meaning runners use a mobile application that features a Virtual Catcher Car. Rather than running toward a fixed finish line, participants stay ahead of this digital vehicle. The virtual car begins its pursuit 30 minutes after the start at a speed of 14 km/h and gradually increases its pace until every runner and wheelchair user is caught.

The course is located at the Dania Beach Pier in the United States. The track consists of an 8 mile loop that takes participants south along the ocean shore on a paved broadwalk. The route offers a flat surface and is fully accessible for wheelchair participants. A refreshment station is provided on-site for those taking part in the event.

This event supports medical progress, as 100% of all entry fees and donations are directed toward spinal cord research projects. Participants can track their progress through the mobile app, which provides timing and race numbers. The format allows participants to determine their own distance based on how long they can maintain their pace before the virtual vehicle reaches them.
