The Aden Perry Hero Event 5K
The event is a chip-timed 5K run/walk held at Markham Park in Sunrise, Florida on December 5, 2026. It welcomes two- and four-legged participants; dogs entered for awards must be registered with their human runner. Registration opens June 1, 2026 and closes August 29, 2026. The listed registration fee is $40.
The event collects school supplies to donate to students in need on December 11; participants who bring a bag of supplies receive a raffle ticket. Packet pick-up is scheduled for Thursday, December 3, 4:00–7:00 PM at Runner's Depot Davie, 2233 S. University Drive, Davie FL 33324.
Awards and amenities include long-sleeved dri-wick race shirts, custom finisher medals for all registered participants including four-legged entrants, winner medals for overall and age-group placings, a dog water and treat station, and a chip-timed course at Markham Park. A college scholarship will be awarded to the first-place overall male and female runners aged 15–19, presented in honor of a prior event winner.
On-site activities and services listed by the organizer include a warmup session, live national anthem, color-guard, performances by local students and musicians, live DJ and band, CPR demonstration/training by VidaMed, silent auction, raffles, vendor area, post-race refreshments, and family-friendly activities such as a craft project and post-race volleyball.
Proceeds from the event go to the Aden Perry Good Samaritan and Scholarship Fund, a registered 501(c)(3) organization that supports students through scholarships, tutoring, and school-supply donations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
