Winchester Half Marathon
The Winchester Half Marathon is an organized road event based in Winchester City Centre, with the course starting and finishing outside the Guildhall. The route passes through surrounding countryside and takes in local landmarks including St Catherine's Hill, Winchester Cathedral and a view associated with King Alfred the Great. The course also visits the village of Hursley.
Distances and formats:
- Half Marathon
- Kids Fun Run (1 km)
- Virtual Half Marathon
The event includes marshaling opportunities; volunteers receive a credit voucher to use against future events and community groups can earn a £200 donation. Road closures are implemented around Winchester on the event day and information is provided to help with movement around the city. Race photos are made available after the event.
Organized by Challenging Events Ltd, the event encourages respectful behaviour and sportsmanship and provides a Code of Conduct for participants to read before the day. There is no official event parking; a multi-storey car park about a five-minute walk from the start is free on Sundays. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
