Wimbleball Lake Triathlon
The Wimbleball Lake Triathlon takes place at Wimbleball Lake near Dulverton, Somerset. This venue has a history of hosting endurance events, having previously served as the location for Ironman 70.3 for a decade. The 2026 edition introduces a full iron distance triathlon for the first time at this site.
Participants begin with a swim in the lake, a location where public swimming is typically not permitted. The cycling portion follows on quiet local roads described as having a rolling or undulating profile. The final run section consists of a 10.5 km course which participants complete for a set number of laps depending on their chosen distance.
Available event categories include:
- Iron Distance Triathlon: 3800m swim, 174km bike, and 42km run.
- 70.3 Distance Triathlon: 1900m swim, 92km bike, and 21km run.
- Standard Triathlon: 1500m swim, 45k bike, and 10k run.
- Sprint Triathlon: 750m swim, 18.4k bike, and 5k run.
- Standard Aquabike: 1500m swim and 46k bike.
- Standard Aquathlon: 1500m swim and 10k run.
The event is British Triathlon registered and permitted. All finishers receive a medal and a branded water bottle. Support includes professional chip timing, fully marked and marshalled courses, feed stations, and professional water safety teams. Live GPS tracking is provided specifically for the iron distance category. On site camping is available at the lake for those wishing to stay at the venue.
