Event Overview
The Wimbleball Lake Triathlon takes place at Wimbleball Lake, near Dulverton in Somerset. The event is scheduled for the August Bank Holiday weekend in 2026.
Distances & Course
The event offers multiple race formats. The standard triathlon consists of a 1500m swim, a 45k bike leg, and a 10k run. Longer options include a 70.3 distance (1900m swim, 92k bike, 21k run) and, for the first time at this venue in 2026, an iron-distance race (3800m swim, 174k bike, 42k run). There is also a sprint triathlon (750m swim, 18.4k bike, 5k run) and multisport variants: a Standard Aquabike (1500m swim, 46k bike) and a Standard Aquathlon (1500m swim, 10k run).
Participants start with a swim in Wimbleball Lake, where swimming is not typically allowed. The bike course uses local, quiet roads described as "lumpy" or rolling. The run course is 10.5k per lap and is also noted to have some inclines.
