Route and logistics

The route uses footpaths, lanes and country paths across the Blackdown Hills and crosses the River Otter. The first leg runs to Smeatharpe, where pasties and mulled wine are provided at Smeatharpe Village Hall. The next leg drops to Upottery and the Sidmouth Arms. The longer route continues via Rawridge, climbs to a viewpoint above Luppitt, and runs to Luppitt Village Hall, where a refreshment stop may operate and cash is required. The final section returns across Luppitt Common to Dunkeswell for refreshments at the Aviation Cafe; cash and card are accepted there.
