Wildstride Race Series
The Wildstride Race Series is a fitness event held at York River State Park. The event combines trail movement with bodyweight strength exercises. Participants move through a 2.2 mile trail loop featuring a crushed rock surface, some hills, and short technical sections.
The event offers two distance categories:
- Hikestrong 10k: Includes 3 loops of the trail and 3 strength stations.
- Hikestrong Half Marathon: Includes 6 loops and 6 strength stations.
Strength stations consist of 50 repetitions of basic bodyweight exercises such as air squats, lunges, and push ups. In the Half Marathon, a new exercise is performed at the start of each loop. In the 10k, participants complete 50 reps of either two specific exercises or the first three exercises in the series at each station. No specialized equipment is required, though participants may use weighted vests or rucksacks if they choose.
This is a non-competitive event where finishers receive an official time and a finisher award. Fitness professionals are present to assist with exercise form. The Half Marathon has a 5 hour cutoff time, and participants have the option to downgrade to the 10k during the race. Registration includes parking and light refreshments such as water and electrolytes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
