Wildstride Race Series
Wildstride Race Series is organized by Happy Cat Fitness at York River State Park in Williamsburg, VA on April 12, 2026. The event combines trail hiking or running with scheduled bodyweight strength exercises at stations along the course.
Distances offered:
- Hikestrong 10k
- Hikestrong Half (13.1 miles)
The course uses a 2.2 mile trail loop with a crushed rock surface, some hills, and a few short uneven or technical sections. The half marathon format includes strength stations at the start of each loop; the 10k uses three stations. Exercises are low impact bodyweight movements such as squats, lunges, and push ups. Modifications are provided and no equipment is required. Participants may optionally wear a weighted vest or rucksack.
Race logistics and services described by the organizer include a noncompetitive format with an official time and a finisher award for those who complete the challenge. The half marathon has a five hour cutoff and racers may downgrade to the 10k mid event. The course will be clearly marked. Light refreshments including water and electrolytes will be available, qualified fitness professionals will assist with form, and parking is included in registration. T shirts and merchandise are available for purchase; T shirts are not included in the race fee and the order cutoff is March 23, 2026.
An example format alternates 50 repetitions of a strength exercise with a 2.2 mile hike or run loop. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
