River & Bay 5K
The River & Bay 5K is a public running event on October 31, 2026, hosted on the VIMS and Batten School campus in Gloucester Point along the York River. The program includes a timed 5K, a 1 Mile Fun Run, and a 5K race walk. Registration is open in the late summer and early fall with fees noted for each event.

The 5K course passes through Gloucester County Point Park, goes under the Coleman Bridge, moves through the campus Boat Basin, and follows the neighborhood around the coastal and marine sciences center. After the races, activities on Davis Lawn feature interactive scientific exhibits, hands-on activities for children, oyster tastings, and a Halloween costume competition. Awards are presented to top finishers.
This event is part of the Colonial Road Runners Grand Prix series. Proceeds benefit VIMS and the Batten School. Registration fees listed in the event details include a $35 fee for the 5K and 5K race walk, and a $20 fee for the 1 Mile Fun Run.
