Wildlands Summit Run

The Wildlands Summit Run is a trail race organized by the Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust in Orland, Maine. Established in 1993, this is the 33rd edition and the event is in its second year on the 6.2 mile course that reaches the summit of Great Pond Mountain.

The main trail race covers forested single track, scenic lookouts, and expanses of granite slab while ascending about 1,009 feet to the summit. The route includes a technical descent that uses downhill mountain bike trails with berms and finishes on Dead River Road at Half Mile Field. After the races there is a gathering for food and awards and GPMCT merchandise will be available for sale. The course is subject to change.

Parking is through the Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust Dead River Trailhead Gate on Don Fish Road in Orland; participants follow the gravel road until directed where to park.

The event supports the Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust. GPMCT manages about 5,200 acres of mountains, woods, and water in Hancock County for wildlife habitat, sustainable forestry, and community trails and uses the race as a fundraiser.
